Established in 1845 with sites across Manchester and Lancashire for Soap and other Chemical production, the East Lancashire Chemical Company remains a family owned and managed business today.

Soda Crystal production began around 1900, and grew to become a multi hundred thousand tonne industry.

Today, Soda Crystals maintain an important share of the domestic cleaning market and have a wide range of other speciality uses due to the unique nature of the product. In 1999 a new high-tech, high-output plant was commissioned and became the sole plant in the UK, supplying product across Europe and as far a field as Canada.
